Bottle time and diaper changes — choosing interactive baby dolls

The bottle-and-diaper loop is the oldest thing we make, and it is still the one children repeat the most. Water goes in at the mouth, travels through her, and comes out into the diaper. Nothing is pretend about the mechanism.

How to fill her without a flood

Use plain cold water, fill the bottle to the line and no further, and hold her upright while she drinks. Juice, milk and anything with sugar will set inside her and the smell never leaves.

Plain water only — never juice, milk or soap.
Fill to the moulded line, not to the top.
Change the diaper straight away rather than later.
Squeeze her gently over a sink to empty the last of it.
Leave her open to dry overnight after a long session.

Why the diaper matters more than the bottle

Children learn the sequence from the second half. Feeding is a single action; changing is four — lay her down, open the tabs, wipe, fasten. That is the part that turns a toy into a routine, and it is why we sell diaper refills by the pack rather than one at a time.

Keeping her from staining

Ink, food colour and dark fabric are the three things that mark a doll permanently. A wet wipe takes off almost everything else. If her outfit has been through the wash with something red, dress her in it only after it has dried fully.

A doll that has been fed water for two years will still look new if she has been emptied and dried each time. The ones that come back grey are the ones that were put away full.
